   CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DEPARTMENT

  1. Excellent learning environment:
    Our faculty comprises university graduates with excellent credentials holding masters or doctoral degrees from well-respected universities, both local and overseas. We offer a well-appointed learning environment, which includes a medical center, a community medical treatment center and a long-term care institution, all of which have been appraised as first class.

  2. Whole-person care as the main educational philosophy:
    The whole-person care based educational philosophy is our core concept to develop all courses. Teachers build this teaching philosophy into their course goals and related curricular activities, and lead student nurses by personal example.

  3. Diversified teaching methods:
    Our teaching methods are drawn from both Chinese and English  traditions. Approaches such as group discussions, role playing, teaching demonstrations, oral presentations, project design, and the use of multi-media and virtual patient ward models are utilized. Distance education is also offered as well as site visits and clinical practice.

  4. Guidance and support systems:

    • 【undergraduate】There are abundant and diversified research resources available to facilitate interdisciplinary research and international cooperation. At present, our school has signed academic cooperation contracts with the School of Nursing at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Oregon Health Science University. Cooperative discussion is also presently on-going with the School of Nursing at the universities of Maryland, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Yale, George Town and the San Francisco Branch of the California.

  5. Interdisciplinary research is encouraged to foster active development and cooperation between the school and international research institutions:There are abundant and diversified research resources available to facilitate interdisciplinary research and international cooperation. At present, our school has signed academic cooperation contracts with the Oregon Health Science University. Cooperative discussion is also presently on-going with the College of Humanities and Social Science at the University of Edinburgh.
