Doctorate Program

Documents required by department:

1.    A copy of master's degree in nursing related disciplines.
2.    A copy of registered nurse license in your home country.
3.    A proof of working experiences in clinical nursing for at least one year.
4.    A master's thesis and other academic publications.
5.    Study plan.
6.    Research proposal
7.    Curriculum vitae (including years of working experiences, job title, affiliations, publications, projects involved, honor).
8.    Proof of English Proficiency:
     o    (1) Internet TOEFL score of 71 (inclusive) or above.
     o    (2) IELTS level 5.5 (inclusive) or above.
     o    (3) TOEIC 750 points or above.
     o    (4) General English Proficiency Test (GEPT): High-Intermediate.

Remarks:

An interview may be needed and will be notified by the department.

Scholarship:

  • Obtained one of the following certificates within five years prior to admission: TOEFL ITP score 523 or above; TOEFL iBT score 69 or above; TOEIC score 700 or above; IELTS band score 5.5 or above; Foreign Language Proficiency Test (FLPT-English) total score 240 in the three written tests; Linguaskill Business score 160 or above)
  • The award (based on a 4-year maximum) includes:
    • Monthly stipend: NT$30,000 (50% supported by advisor and 50% matching from CGU)
    • Extra scholarship for outstanding students up to NT$12,000 per month

  • People applying to go to Taiwan to undertake a program completely taught in English must submit their TOEFL test scores or submit a certificate that they have passed another English language proficiency exam recognized by the government in that country at the intermediate level or documentary evidence that they scored at least 75% in such an exam.

Teaching or Research Assistantships:

  1. International students studying at CGU may apply for teaching assistant (TA) or research assistant (RA) positions and receive salaries as a way of funding.
  2. Salaries:
    • RA positions for students in doctoral programs: NT$8,000 – 24,000 per month
    • TA positions: NT$8,000 – 10,000 per month
